The Master Bedroom Redo Is Complete! Time for the Reveal!

At last!  It is time to reveal our Master Bedroom 'afters'Are you ready?!?
Of course you are!  Here we go...
Well, what do you think? It has been a long road getting this finished up, so let's do a quick review of the DIY's that got us here.

We kicked off this project back in January when we finally chose a paint color and painted the room.  It felt so great to get rid of that green!
I sewed up our own  window treatments (which I've added a lining to)...
Then updated a few thing we already owned with some spray paint to get that antique look...
Added in some artwork that captured our imagination (Georges Melies anyone?)...
And sewed up a few decorative accents with my thrift store fabric finds.
But the biggest to-do by far for our bedroom was Alex's DIY door turned headboard...
Man, oh man, I still can't get over how great that turned out!!!

We also changed out the feet on our Ektorp chair and ottoman in order to class it up a bit or again "un-Ikea-fy" it (we haven't shared that tutorial yet, but will later this week).
PS- that's the Magic Carpet I mentioned in my Friday post!

Phew, it has been a long road but I am so happy we now have a space that feels like ours and reflects our style as a couple (that part wasn't easy!).

Now, I am pooped.... time for bed!!!
Hmmm, that grown-up looking bedroom feels sooooo good!

What do you think of our Master Bedroom Redo?
Are you digging it?
Is it what you thought it might be?  Or totally different?

  3. Hi Carla,

I discovered your blog via Pinterest and love all of your projects, stories and ideas!

Your bedroom makeover is absolutely gorgeous. I love how comforting and warm it is while staying "crisply vintage". Beautiful!

    Thanks for a great blog!

  4. I love the re-do! Especially the head board, I just did one with plywood and "egg crate" foam! Now on to window treatments of my own! Thanks for all the inspiration!

    1. Oooo! I thought about doing an upholstered headboard too, I bet it turned out beautifully! Best of luck with window treatments, they always seem easy but I usually mess up the measurements :( hope your project goes well!

  7. I love that you kept the Ikea duvet. I have the same one and I just love it. I actually do iron my sheets but I don't the duvet. I love the rumbled look on my bed and now your bed.

Very nice job. Ya did good. :)

  8. Wow you two are seriously amazing and so clever and able to carry out all that you dream about doing.. the headboard is out of this world, and the colours you have chosen are so right, this is such an elegant room now, with real warmth and flavour.. I am subdued in thinking how nice it would be to do same, but husband is not of the opinion, so I dream and watch blogs like yours and it makes my day.. thats what this room has done... made my day.... thank you so much xxxx

  9. Where is the blanket on the end of the bed from??

    1. It is actually the same fabric as the decorative pillow I had sewn for the chair, just the reverse side is showing. I got the fabric at a local shop and hemmed the edges so it could work as a throw blanket. It turned out to be a perfect match to the decorative pillow on the bed that is from Target!

    2. Great, thanks. I am looking for a similar blanket and I was hoping to order online since I am not known to do well with sewing. Thanks for your help!

  18. I'm a little late to the game - found your room on Pinterest - but just wanted to add that I LOVE your bedroom. I've been trying to decide which way to go in our bedroom, light and bright or dark and moody. Your bedroom helped me decide to take a chance and go dark. Now I just have to figure out how to copy your room without copying it exactly. :-)

Can you tell me what color white you painted your ceiling? I've got to make that decision soon.

  20. I'm a bit late to the party, but I just wanted to say that I LOVE your bedroom! I've been trying to decide whether I want my bedroom light and airy or dark and moody and your master has just convinced me that I need to be daring and go dark! Now I just have to figure out how to copy your room without actually copying it. :-)

Can you tell me what color you painted your ceilings? Is it the same color as your crown?

    1. Thanks Diane! Yes, I'm still totally in love with the deep moody paint color! Always feel cozy yet sophisticated! The white trim and ceilings are Behr's Polar Bear (white). We've used it all over in our house, good white tone!
