Well Traveled Home Decor and Wall Art

A favorite DIY project of mine has been turning any kind of travel souvenir or momento into home decor.  I'm thankful that I've been able to travel to a few places I've always dreamed of seeing and it's fun to take that experience and turn it into a piece of art or decor that captures the memories from that place.

I've shared a couple decor pieces I've made after our last trip to Europe and then from my work trips to India and China...

Now that we're in Europe again I can only hope to being home some unique pieces or mementos to decorate with!  Here's a couple unique ideas I found while google searching that I might go after. I'm really digging the jar idea with the sand, I'd love to bring home some of the beautiful Croatian beach to keep at home!

Do you have other fun well-traveled decor ideas that we could use? I'd love to know!

  1. I saw a different type of sand jar where it was layered in sands from different places and labeled on the outside... i.e., Croatia 8/2013. I am sure you could google it to see photos. Remember to try to bring back neutrally colored pieces (as well as the colorful and funky) such as unpainted woods, metals and stone which will "go" with whichever way your style evolves in the future! Developing well chosen photos in black and white and choosing a single frame color makes them a cohesive collection as well.

  2. I have collected coins from all over the world and put them in a picture frame so that they can be displayed- they are all unique and fun to look at! I can send you a pic!
